Choosing Happiness

So how does Perspective (previous blog) relate to our feelings of happiness?
Let’s dig a little deeper and look at the perspective that we bring to things. Life happens to all of us. Substitute another four letter word for life (hint – starts with an “s”) and the phrase takes on a completely different meaning.
Life happens…yet we are at choice as to how we deal with it. My dear friends from Tokyo embraced the wonders of living in a foreign country and it was reflected in their everyday attitude. Instead of focusing on the difficulties of finding groceries or the cash to pay for them before the store closed at 7 p.m., my friends reveled in the unique experiences that life in a foreign country brings.
We are given a choice every minute to decide how we perceive our lives. Some days, life is more than we can gracefully handle. Yet when we choose to embrace the struggle as part of becoming who we are meant to be, life provides a deeply-rewarding meaningful experience.
I began this series of blogs asking “Do you deserve to be Happy?” Rather than deserve or have a right to be happy, each of us has the opportunity to choose whether we are happy or not. How about that? It is up to you! Remember that it is the choices we make that make us. Who do you choose to be?
