Barbara Stewart on What Leaders Are Navigating Beneath the Surface
Recently, I had the opportunity to join Dennis Tardan as a guest on his podcast, Tardan Today. Dennis is a skilled interviewer and communication coach, and our conversation created space to explore what many leaders are experiencing right now but do not always name out loud.
At Accelus Partners, much of our work begins by looking beneath the surface. In this conversation, we talked about the patterns we see consistently with senior leaders and leadership teams, and why common symptoms in teams often point to something deeper.
What we explored together
During the conversation, we touched on several themes that show up regularly in our client work:
• Leadership challenges that repeat themselves across industries and roles
• How a familiar issue in a team can be a signal of a much larger opportunity
• The role AI is beginning to play in leadership and team dynamics
• Why getting all the ideas in the room matters more than ever
• What becomes possible when leaders learn to quiet the inner critic
Rather than offering quick fixes, the discussion focused on helping leaders slow down enough to notice what is really happening and choose more intentionally how they respond.
Why this conversation matters
Many leaders are carrying more complexity than ever. The pace is fast, expectations are high, and the pressure to perform can make it tempting to stay at the surface.
This conversation is an invitation to pause and reflect. When leaders create space for curiosity and honest dialogue, clarity follows. And with clarity, better decisions become possible.
