Why?

You now know that “try” is not an option.  Why does it come out of our mouths so often?  Because the “why” is not strong enough.

Many times clients come to me because they want to grow their businesses.  I ask why.  Because I want more income.  Why?  To support my family and do the things we enjoy.  Why?  So that we can create special experiences together.  Why?  Because at the end of the day the experiences and memories are more meaningful than anything else.

Ahhh…now we are getting somewhere; we are getting to why and that creates the power, the intent, the motivation for doing the things that others won’t do so we can enjoy the people and things most meaningful to us.  When you get to the why, the objective (growing your business) becomes the by-product of your activity.  The intent is so strong, the mind cannot ignore the instructions it is receiving.  It begins to move you to action, at times unconsciously, as it seeks solutions to the request you have made.

This is best described in the following quote by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe.  You have likely heard portions of this, yet it is the full message that gets to the heart of intentionality; your Why.

“Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back — Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation), there is one elementary truth that ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred. A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one’s favor all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance, which no man could have dreamed would have come his way. Whatever you can do, or dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it. Begin it now.”
