Attracting Your Ideal Client
The groundwork is laid. You hold the keys to begin reaching out to your Ideal Client. Now where do you find them?
Go back to your detailed description of your Ideal Client that you prepared a few weeks back. This came out of the work you did on analyzing your current client base. That detailed description will provide the first clues as to where you can find more Ideal Clients and their communities.
Let’s say, as an example, you identified that many of your clients come from some connection to your involvement with triathlons. Some clients were competitors themselves, others were referred by fellow triathletes. Yet others you met attending a conference on training or a coaching session on sports psychology. While not all clients may be triathletes, they have a common thread of interest in performance and physical well-being.
You may also find other characteristics that go beyond the realm of athletics. Perhaps they also fall within a certain age group, tend to work in specialized professional fields and have an overall drive to better themselves.
Using these characteristics, you can begin to identify groups, activities, events, publications and more where you can be present with your message. Participating in groups, activities and events will help you become better known within the community. You can also make presentations and contribute articles within this community, drawing parallels between competing, and physical and mental fitness with how you help clients “compete” on the financial side.
With this example, you can begin to think of your Ideal Client community in the same way. Perhaps it is a certain professional type or members of a specific community. If you transitioned to financial services from another career, you may find a pre-made community of former colleagues or clients that you serve well.
Grab a piece of paper or make a spreadsheet listing all the opportunities you have to get involved with your Ideal Client community. Getting known, liked and trusted will be your next steps!
